However that has never come to fruition. I have looked forward to some products with gleeful anticipation only to find myself disappointingly "meh" about them once I've given them a test run.
And I've reluctantly taken on toys or been surprised by an unexpected product in the mail only to find that it becomes my new favourite.
When visiting with my darling Aurore over the holidays our conversation (naturally) led to sex toys. She was both shocked and appalled that I had never tried a glass dildo. She went on to explain to me her own exploits with one gentleman, a glass dildo and a freezer. Needless to say, it's not my story to tell, but she did manage to convince me that it was worth trying out.
I'd always avoided glass because it just didn't seem like a good idea to put something like that so close to my delicate pink parts. But deep-down it was probably just a reluctance to step outside my comfort zone. That and the fact that I just really like toys that vibrate on my clit.
So when my darling Nancy over at PinkCherry.ca asked me what I'd be interested in, I added a glass dildo to the list, mentally telling myself that I should think about Aurore when using it.
When it arrived though, I positively squeed in delight. Even if it did absolutely nothing for me physically, I have to say that it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I lamented the fact that I couldn't place it out on display somewhere - it was just that gorgeous. In fact I'm still trying to figure out if I can subtly add it to my décor while disguising it from it's true purpose to the innocent.

It. Was. Awesome.
What a totally different feeling. Not one I'm sure I can even entirely describe.
First of all, it was cold. I didn't do anything to chill it (the instructions advise a bowl of cold water vs the freezer) but even at room temperature, once inserted it felt frigid. But in a good way. Shocking and stimulating.
And hard. Now most toys are fairly solid and rigid. For the most part they're created to imitate an actual penis. And as you know, those are made of flesh and blood etc. Hard yes. But still with some softness and give.
A glass dildo though doesn't even pretend to be anything close to the real thing. It is shockingly hard and unforgiving. Now it does have a head, and little bumpy ridegs all over it to give it texture. And I have to say, in a toy like this, I found that I could feel those ridges even more than on a jelly or rubber toy. Absolutely.
Now I did couple this up with my favourite clit stimulator, but I have to say - it slid in nice and smooth and felt fantastic. To the point where I immediately ran to my email and thanked Aurore for suggesting such a thing. I think she was rather smug about it all.
So for those of you who've never tried one? Do it. Now.
This one costs $39.99 on the Canadian site and $29.99 on the American site. And worth every penny. I have nothing bad to say about this.
Now someone tell me how I can put this on display in my living room without offending people.

Well, thank you. Now I have to get one :)
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe put a few in a vase for display ? :) You'll start a new trend.
Put it in a box with the top sticking out. Then you can pretend it's the tower of a castle. :)
ReplyDeleteThe instructions tell you to CHILL it? Really? Everything I'd heard about glass dildoes said to warm them up in a bowl of warm water first. How curious.

I just bought my first glass toy a few weeks ago, which was FANTASTIC. I had this silly fear of it brakeing inside of me. It is glass you know.
ReplyDeletePeople should totally listen to me more often :p
ReplyDeleteI've never had a sex toy before but I've always been curious to try one. Maybe I'll start with this one...
ReplyDeleteUm I must say. I am BEYOND intrigued. BEYOND. Pity I can't beam it here right this second.
ReplyDeleteCould it perhaps be some kind of pastry roller?
